Baltimore took the lead in the fourth inning when Beavers doubled to right field. The hit drove in Alonso, who scored to make it 1-0, while Basallo advanced to third base. Houston answered in the seventh inning as Allen hit a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher.
This play allowed Dezenzo to score, tying the game at 1-1, with Spence moving into scoring position at second base.
The deadlock persisted until the 10th inning. Jackson hit a sacrifice bunt to first base, enabling Taveras to score and give Baltimore a 2-1 advantage. In the same inning, Alvarez hit a ground rule double that brought Spence home, leveling the score at 2-2.
The game remained tied until the 11th inning, when O'Neill reached on an infield single to second base, allowing Henderson to score for a 3-2 lead. Taveras then singled to right field, driving in Ward to make the final score 4-2.
