Fifth-inning swing decides it

Trammell delivered the biggest swing after Toronto had pulled even, hitting a three-run homer to right in the fifth inning to send the Houston Astros to a 7-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park.

The home run, measured at 388 feet, was the only homer of the game. It came after Altuve had already put Houston back in front with an infield single to shortstop that scored Alvarez and moved Walker to second. Trammell then drove in Walker and Altuve with the homer, stretching Houston’s lead from 3-2 to 6-2.

Toronto answered in the fifth. Straw tripled to center to score Giménez, cutting Houston’s lead to 2-1. Straw then scored on a wild pitch by Wesneski, tying the game at 2.
