Decisive Rally
The Houston Astros secured a narrow 5-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night at Daikin Park, driven by a critical offensive surge in the fourth inning that ultimately proved too much for the Rangers' pitching staff to contain.
Houston took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Alvarez crossed the plate following a Wade Jr. single to right field. The Rangers responded in the third, tying the game at 1-1 on a Langford home run to left field measuring 348 feet.
However, Houston quickly reclaimed the lead later in the same frame as Trammell singled to left, allowing Alvarez and Walker to score.
The turning point arrived in the fourth inning. Osuna opened the threat with a single to right, bringing Carter home to tie the game at 3-3. Duran scored on a sacrifice bunt by Díaz, giving Houston a 4-3 advantage before Walker reached on an infield single and Peña followed.
The inning concluded with Alvarez scoring on a wild pitch by Cole Winn, extending the lead to 5-3 despite a Rangers challenge that was upheld.
Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom took the loss, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over 3.1 innings while walking five batters and striking out three. He was relieved by Cole Winn, who pitched scoreless relief, followed by Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Chase Silseth, who combined to keep the deficit manageable until the final out.
