Methodist Celina Medical Center has introduced a new women’s services program, marking a significant expansion of its clinical offerings. The facility, which began admitting patients in March 2025, opened this specific department eight months later. With this addition, the hospital is now equipped to handle nonemergency labor and delivery cases.
This development makes Methodist Celina the only hospital in both Prosper and Celina to maintain a labor and delivery unit. The new program allows the facility to provide comprehensive care for expectant mothers within the community, reducing the need for residents to travel to other locations for these specific services.
Cody Hunter, president of Methodist Celina, highlighted the historic nature of the hospital’s recent milestones. He noted that the facility has achieved several firsts since opening its doors. These include performing the first mammogram in Celina and delivering the first baby at a hospital in the city.
Hunter described these local births as "BRICs," a term he uses to refer to individuals who are born and raised in Celina. The introduction of the women’s services program adds to the list of firsts, as it represents the first time the area has had a hospital equipped for nonemergency labor and delivery.
The hospital’s leadership has characterized the new program as long overdue for the community. By establishing these services locally, Methodist Celina aims to meet the growing healthcare needs of residents in Celina and the surrounding Prosper area.
