The Dallas Stars began their 2026-27 season with a 4-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 2 at American Airlines Center.

Mason McTavish scored 1:34 into the opening period. Dalibor Dvorsky made it 2-0 at 13:05 of the second, putting St. Louis two goals ahead before the final period.

McTavish was playing his first game with the Blues, one of several offseason additions in the opening-night lineup.

Dallas successfully challenged an apparent goal by Adam Jiricek early in the third period, and it was overturned for offside.

The Stars also had a third-period power-play opportunity following a major penalty against the Blues, but Dallas could not turn that advantage into a goal.

Jimmy Snuggerud scored into an empty net late in the third, and Pius Suter added the final goal as St. Louis completed the shutout.

Joel Hofer stopped all 25 Dallas shots. Jake Oettinger made 20 saves for the Stars, who finished with a 25-24 edge in shots.
