Turning Point in the Third
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter on Thursday night and beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 at AT&T Stadium. The win was Tampa Bay's first of the season and improved the Bucs to 1-4, while Dallas fell to 2-3.
Dallas opened the scoring in the first quarter when Javonte Williams went in from a yard out, and Brandon Aubrey's kick made it 7-0. Tampa Bay tied it in the second quarter on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Jalon Daniels to Bucky Irving, and Aubrey's 41-yard field goal gave the Cowboys a 10-7 halftime lead.
Irving Dominates Ground Game
The third quarter swung the game. Receiver Emeka Egbuka put Tampa Bay ahead 14-10 with a 14-yard touchdown run, Irving scored on a 1-yard run to make it 21-10, and Chase McLaughlin's 41-yard field goal pushed the lead to 24-10.
Irving finished with 165 rushing yards on 21 carries. Daniels, an undrafted rookie, completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown. Tez Johnson had one catch for 64 yards.
