Celina Clean Sweep returns Oct. 3: what to bring and what to leave home

Celina residents clearing out a garage or sorting household waste have a drop-off opportunity Saturday, Oct. 3. The city's Clean Sweep event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Building, 10165 CR 106.

Before loading the car, check the city's accepted-items list. The collection includes bulk trash, yard waste, appliances, document shredding, electronic waste, household hazardous waste and donations to Grace Bridge.

Several common cleanout items are excluded. The city will not accept tires, refrigerators, freezers, equipment containing fuels or oils, or medications. The appliance category therefore does not cover every appliance.

Celina Public Works organizes Clean Sweep with Community Waste Disposal to help residents handle materials unsuitable for regular curbside collection.

Residents unsure whether a particular item qualifies can contact Public Works at 945-362-9710 before making the trip. The department's published office hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturday's collection ends at noon.
